Currently, there is no evidence to show that using a VDU is any worse for your eyes than doing other type of concentrated, continuous, close work. For example a person who has a genetic pre-disposition to becoming short-sighted is likely to become more short-sighted when doing continuous amounts of close work of any kind. The progression of the myopia usually slows down around the age of 30. Long-sightedness and eye co-ordination difficulties, even when present in very small amounts, can result in eyestrain and headaches when using VDU's.
